Lake Vouliagmeni sits under a limestone cliff at the neck of the peninsula, fed by underground thermal springs. It is a Natura 2000 site, a preserved monument of nature, and it holds a species of sea anemone found nowhere else on earth.
On the temperature there are two published figures and they do not agree. The IUCN gives 21 to 24 degrees and says it never falls below 18. The operator’s own site gives 22 to 29 degrees depending on season. Both are printed here because averaging two sources is how a number stops being true.
What it is genuinely for
Swimming in February. That is the whole argument and it is a strong one. The Saronic in winter is bracing at best; this is a warm body of water fifteen minutes from four of the most expensive residential addresses in Greece, open in the months when the coast otherwise closes.
It is the February question again, and the lake is one of the few things on this coast that answers it in the affirmative.
The lake and the business are two things
Entry in 2026 was €17 on a weekday and €10 for residents of the municipality, and there is now a wellness and spa offer, a restaurant and a Zeus+Dione presence on the site.
None of that is a criticism; a protected natural site needs someone to run it. But the geology is a fact and the spa is a product, and the two use overlapping vocabulary. The test we apply to every wellness claim on this coast applies here too — warm water is good for you, and that is a smaller claim than the category usually makes.
The lake is one of the reasons Vouliagmeni is the address that needs no explanation, and it is a short walk from the marina.
